14 January 2011 Flooding in Queensland, Australia.

These maps of the extent of the flooding (in blue) was created from radar imagery acquired by the Cosmo-SkyMed constellation of the Italian Space Agency. These maps were delivered to the civil defence less than six hours after acquisition and are being used to determine the extent of the flooding and its development as well as access routes for rescue services.

The Cosmo-SkyMed™ constellation can acquire imagery several times a day, in all weathers, day or night. :
